The Introduction to the Child Care Profession course prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills required to provide care for children in group and family child care settings.
Participants will learn about the state of Wisconsin licensing regulations, professionalism and roles and responsibilities in the field. This course also offers a foundational understanding of early childhood development, quality programs, relationships, curriculum, environments and more.
This non-credit course fulfills the requirements described in The Department of Children and Families Chapter 251 for Family and Group Child Care.
This course requires completion of 50 hours of participation, including independent study, coursework and includes at least 15 hours of face to face/virtual sessions.
Participants are eligible to receive a Wisconsin Child Care Registry Certificate upon successful completion of this course.

Required Virtual Face to Face Sessions via Zoom:
6:30p - 9:30p
At least 15 hours of Virtual / Face to Face sessions are required.
At least 35 Hours of independent work is required for successful completion of course.
This course is offered online via an online platform and face to face via ZOOM. Participants must have access to Wi-Fi and a computer or laptop (cell phones are not recommended). Also, you will need the ability to print material ahead of time for class participation and assignments.
Each participant will receive a syllabus with course details and expectations via email before the start of the course.

- Students are expected to fully participate and complete all required coursework, surveys and required hours to successfully complete this course.
- Students should be prepared to attend each session on time for the full duration of the class, having a good Wi-Fi connection, a laptop or computer (cell phones are not recommended) and be setup on the online platform being used (Zoom, Insight etc.)
- 100% attendance is required in all Face to Face sessions.
- Students must be visible on camera for the full duration of each face to face session.
- Students are excepted to be distraction free during face to face online sessions. Please choose a quiet space, away from noise and background activity during face to face sessions.
- Students are responsible for checking emails (including spam folders) for content, links and information related to the course.
- Students are responsible for communicating needs related to the course to the instructor promptly, to prevent any hindrances to course requirements.
- Refunds will be permitted before one week of course start date.
- Refunds will not be permitted if requested within 7 days before the course start date or for non-completion of the course.
- Students must complete the course requirements within the allotted time to receive a subsidized rate. Students who do not complete the course or meet the course requirements may be required to pay the unsubsidized full amount of the course.
